Anecdotes

Catie was trying to get my attention a few days ago, saying, "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!" I told her to wait a minute until I finished what I was doing. She paused for a few seconds and then tried a different tactic, "Mewissa, Mewissa!"

We were getting ready for work one morning when Catie bounced into the bathroom saying, 'I got an idea!" We chuckled and asked her what her idea was. She paused and thought for a minute, then said, "I don't know!"

I was getting Catie set up at the table with her watercolors for some painting time. I had a brilliant idea and went and got her medicine dropper, filled it with water and then squirted a few drops into each color section. As Catie watched me, she suddenly realized the instrument I was using and blurted out, "Hey... wait a minute!"

One evening around Christmas, we were at my mother's house. My sisters were having fun talking to Catie and getting her to make animal sounds.
"What does a cow say?"
"Moooo!"

To be silly, one of us asked, "What does a Daddy say?"
Catie thought for a second and said, "Shh!"
We all had a good laugh, then my sister asked her, "What does a Mommy say?"
Catie responded, "I wuv you!"
And we awwed and thought that was really cute and commented on her creativity in responding.

A few days later, in the car, Catie was singing "The Wheels on the Bus Go Round and Round." Then she started on a verse that Brian and I had never heard before, but that they obviously sing in daycare, "The Daddies on the bus go 'Shh, shh, shh'..."
